Biostimulators

Your collagen. Not a gel.

aesPlla, Sculptra and Julaine are poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen stimulators. They do not sit in the face as a gel. They signal fibroblasts to lay down your own collagen — gradually, over weeks, with a result that can last two to three years after a course. A course of three is recommended.

Who it is for

Diffuse volume loss in cheeks and temples
Skin that has thinned or lost bounce
Patients who do not want an overfilled look
A longer plan than dermal fillers

How it works

01 map

We decide whether PLLA, filler, threads or a fibre is the smaller honest tool — and which brand.

02  PLAN

Reconstituted PLLA is placed in a grid under the skin. The product itself is not the volume.

03 BUILD

Collagen arrives over 4–12 weeks. A course of three sittings, a month apart, is recommended. Aftercare follows the brand — Sculptra is massaged; Julaine usually is not.

Downtime. A few days of swelling. No theatre. Results are not instant — that is the point.

The brands we use

aesPlla, Sculptra and Julaine. Same class. Different records.

THE BIOSTIMULATOR

aesPlla

A UK PLLA launched in 2022. Same collagen-stimulating logic as Sculptra, with a finer particle structure that clinics use to lower the historic risk of nodules. Often reads as a slightly faster, softer, more hydrated finish.

THE BIOSTIMULATOR

Sculptra

The established PLLA-SCA. In European aesthetics since 1999, with the longest safety record in this class. Stimulates collagen and elastin; published data shows dermal thickening and results that commonly last around two years after a course. The patient brand when the brief is global volume and laxity, not a single line.

THE BIOSTIMULATOR

Julaine

A Swedish PLLA with uniform LaSynPro microspheres. It activates fibroblasts more directly, with a lower inflammatory kick than classic Sculptra. Often chosen when aftercare needs to be simpler — no 5-5-5 massage. Newer; the published record is shorter. WE pick it when skin quality and quiet support are the brief, not a heavy fill.

YOUR CONCERNS
Why this, not the other sitting

Against filler, threads, and a booster.

None of these is "better." We recommend best treatment for you. PLLA earns its place when you want your own collagen, not a gel, a stitch, or a glow.

Versus

Dermal fillers

Filler is the volume — a gel you can see on the day, usually 6–18 months, dissolvable. PLLA is the signal. Your collagen is the volume. It builds over weeks and can last two to three years. Better for a hollow face that should still look like you; filler still wins for lips and a precise contour.

Versus

PDO cog threads

Threads pull. They give an immediate mechanical lift, then some collagen as they dissolve. PLLA does not lift a dropped jawline on the day — it rebuilds the plane that has thinned. Different tools. If the problem is descent, threads or a fibre may be the honest first move. If the problem is gauntness, PLLA is.

Versus

Skinboosters

Profhilo and Seventy Hyal hydrate and remodel skin quality. Glow, bounce, texture — usually months, not years. PLLA is structure: collagen scaffold, firmness, quiet volume. Use a booster when the brief is quality. Use a biostimulator when the brief is the face looking under-built.
